Kim Kimble's journey into the world of beauty and hairstyling began with a childhood passion for fashion. From a tender age of two, she immersed herself in creating her own fashion world by cutting out magazine pictures and crafting paper dolls. Despite enrolling in a beauty school with financial constraints, Kimble found a way to pay her tuition by doing hair on the side. It was during this time that she discovered the boundless creativity inherent in hairstyling, prompting her to shift her focus from fashion design to the business of hair.
After completing beauty school, Kim Kimble started her career at her mother's salon, initially working as a shampoo girl. The simple teachings she received during this period became the foundational building blocks of her illustrious career. With a family background in styling—both her mother and grandmother were stylists—Kimble developed her own unique techniques. In 1995, she unveiled her first salon, Phaze II, in Los Angeles, showcasing her innovative approaches to hairstyling.
Kim Kimble's breakthrough in the world of celebrity hairstyling came when film producer Robert Townsend hired her as the Key Hairstylist for the movie "B.A.P.S," featuring Halle Berry. The intricate hairpieces she designed for the film garnered attention from Hollywood executives and talent, propelling her into the realm of television with projects like "Cinderella" and "Moesha," starring Brandy. Subsequently, Kimble worked on notable productions such as "The Jamie Foxx Show," "Two Can Play That Game," and "Austin Powers: Goldmember," where her collaboration with Beyoncé elevated her to widespread recognition.
Over the years, Kim Kimble has contributed her expertise to various productions, including "Think Like A Man," "Sparkle," "Dreamgirls," "Obsessed," and "Deliver Us From Eva," among others. Her career trajectory reflects a steadfast commitment to preparation and seizing opportunities. In her own words, "When preparation meets opportunity, you always have to be ready for something. When you get your mind set in preparing for something, you don’t have time to doubt."
Kim Kimble's philosophy centers on the coexistence of healthy hair and great style. Accordingly, her products and tools are designed to cater to a diverse range of ethnic hair textures, facilitating the creation of chic yet manageable styles. When not immersed in managing her multiple businesses, Kim Kimble can be found lending her hairstyling expertise to an array of celebrities, including Gabrielle Union, Vanessa Williams, the Williams sisters, Kerry Washington, Sanaa Lathan, Garcelle Beauvais, Taraji P. Henson, and Zendaya. In essence, she is rightfully hailed as the "Queen of Hair" for her outstanding contributions to the world of beauty and hairstyling.
